Polish Heritage Month
October 1, 2024 – October 31, 2024

October is Polish Heritage Month in Michigan
Dear Friends,
As we celebrate Polish American Heritage Month this October, we honor the generations of Polish Americans whose courage, hard work, and faith have shaped the vibrant Polish communities throughout Michigan. From the bustling streets of Hamtramck and the proud heritage of Bay City to the cultural centers in Grand Rapids and Detroit, Polish Americans have made their mark in every corner of our state.
Our ancestors arrived with little but hope and determination, building strong foundations in fields like education, business, science, sports, and the arts. They established enduring institutions such as the Polish Institute of Culture and Research at Orchard Lake, and through their devotion, our Polish heritage continues to thrive. We take great pride in the values they passed down—faith, family, and a deep love of country.
As St. John Paul II once said, “As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live.” It is now our responsibility to carry forward that torch, ensuring that our rich heritage is not only preserved but passed on to future generations. Let us move forward with pride and unity, building on the legacy left to us, and ensuring that the spirit of Polish Americans continues to inspire Michigan for generations to come.
I am also excited to share that we are expanding our efforts to better serve the Polish community across Michigan and beyond. We are now collecting and sharing events from Polish communities near the Michigan-Ohio border, recognizing how interconnected our communities are. This expansion reflects our commitment to strengthening communication and connection among our people.
May this new calendar become the premier resource for discovering Polonia events across Michigan and nearby regions. Please share, add, and view upcoming events, and if you’d like to post an event, email us at info@picrol.org. Together, we can celebrate and elevate our vibrant heritage.
