Covenant of Blood: The Last Soldiers of World War II
Saturday, June 20, 2026 | 7:00 p.m.
Galeria at Orchard Lake Schools
For one night only, the Polish Institute of Culture & Research at Orchard Lake is honored to host the North American premiere of Covenant of Blood: The Last Soldiers of World War II, an acclaimed new documentary by filmmakerPatrick Ney (UK) and Stefan Tompson.
Fresh from a packed screening in Liverpool, England, this powerful film now comes to Orchard Lake before North American audiences. We believe this story deserves a full house here as well.
Following the screening, guests will have the rare opportunity to meet filmmaker Patrick Ney during a special post-screening discussion and reception.
About the Film
The film explores the tragic and often overlooked fate of Poland’s anti-communist resistance fighters, known as the Cursed Soldiers, who continued their struggle after the end of World War II. While much of Europe celebrated peace in 1945, many Polish patriots found themselves facing a new occupation imposed by the Soviet Union.
Through survivor testimony, historical records, and extensive research, Covenant of Blood reveals how these men and women were imprisoned, tortured, executed, and erased from history for refusing to surrender their dream of a free Poland.
Created independently by Patrick Ney and Stefan Tompson and funded entirely through public support, the documentary sheds light on one of the most compelling and least understood chapters of twentieth-century European history.
An Additional Special Presentation
Guests will also experience a moving companion documentary, 947 Days, a short film telling the extraordinary story of Witold Pilecki, the Polish resistance hero who voluntarily entered Auschwitz to gather intelligence on Nazi atrocities from within the camp.
For 947 days, Pilecki endured imprisonment while organizing resistance, documenting crimes, and transmitting information to the outside world. His story remains one of the most courageous acts of resistance in World War II history.
Join Us
This is more than a film screening. It is an opportunity to encounter history through the voices and stories of those who refused to abandon freedom, faith, and country.
