Polish Institute to Host Official Book Launch of Ania Fink’s 33 Churches – 33 Kościoły as Part of Its Literary Salon Series

The September 25 event will celebrate the unveiling of a new bilingual publication documenting Detroit’s historic Polish-American parishes.

ORCHARD LAKE, MI – The Polish Institute of Culture & Research at Orchard Lake (PICROL) is thrilled to announce that author Ania Fink has chosen the Institute as the setting for the official launch and unveiling of her newest book, 33 Churches – 33 Kościoły.

The special occasion will take place as part of the Institute’s Literary Salon Series on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Galeria at Orchard Lake Schools.

For the Polish Institute, the opportunity to host the debut of this important work is a particular honor. The publication’s dedication to preserving Polish-American religious, architectural, and cultural heritage closely reflects the Institute’s own mission. Fink’s decision to launch her book at Orchard Lake is especially meaningful, as the publication includes dedicated pages recognizing the historic Orchard Lake institutions and their contributions to Polonia.

Preserving the Legacy of Detroit’s Polish-American Churches

Following her previous publication, 56 Churches – 56 Kościołów, Fink’s newest bilingual volume documents 33 historic Polish Roman Catholic parishes established in the Archdiocese of Detroit before World War II.

Through original hand-drawn sketches, photographs, and historical research, the book captures the architectural beauty, faith, and heritage of these churches and the communities they continue to inspire.

These parishes were far more than places of worship. They served as centers of Polish language, education, culture, and community life, helping generations of Polish immigrants preserve their identity while establishing new roots in America.

The publication also recognizes Orchard Lake’s profound significance to Polish-American heritage, dedicating pages to the historic Orchard Lake institutions and their enduring mission.

For the Polish Institute, the book represents the very spirit of its work: preserving the stories, institutions, and cultural traditions that connect generations of Polish Americans to their heritage.

A Special Evening with the Author

This installment of the Institute’s Literary Salon Series will serve as the official book launch of 33 Churches – 33 Kościoły, offering guests an opportunity to celebrate the publication’s unveiling alongside its author.

Fink will present the history of the featured churches, explore the experiences of Poles in the United States and Michigan, and offer insight into her artistic process, including the creation of her original architectural sketches.

Guests will have the opportunity to ask questions, engage in conversation with the author, and have their books personally autographed.

An intimate reception and author meet-and-greet will follow the presentation, providing a welcoming setting to celebrate this literary milestone and connect over a shared appreciation for Polish-American history.

Copies of 33 Churches – 33 Kościoły will be available for purchase at the event. Those wishing to secure a copy in advance may purchase one through Amazon  and bring it to the Literary Salon for Fink to autograph.

The Polish Institute warmly invites readers, historians, artists, parishioners, and all those interested in Detroit’s rich immigrant heritage to join this special evening celebrating Ania Fink, the launch of her new publication, and the remarkable legacy of the Polish-American parishes that helped shape metropolitan Detroit.
